Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council reflects the combined voice of all students at our school.  The Student Representative Council (SRC) is a semi autonomous student body responsible for representation of a collective student voice.  The SRC at St Marys Senior High prides itself on its special and unique nature.  The representative team consists of around 20 democratically elected students reflecting the diversity of St Marys Senior High.  It is chaired by the school's student leaders, the captains and vice captains, and operates under the guidance of two members of staff.  The SRC is administered by a Constitution, that reflects the school's long standing commitment to nurture a culture of student leadership within the student body, of issues affecting students within their school, the Western Sydney community and beyond.  It provides the opportunity for all students to have a say in school decision-making and discussions.  This webpage contains details of current SRC members and activities.  If you have any suggestions for improving our school, please pass them onto the SRC for action.

Current SRC Activities We have been sponsoring two children with World Vision: Lire Misiganu from Ethopia and John Whenson from Haiti.  Fundraising from our Valentine's Day Assembly and Term One Disco are going towards their sponsorship.  Each term we focus our fundraising on a different charity.

SRC Members are attached to Clusters and part of their duty is to run Cluster Meetings and hold open forums for students to raise issues and concerns for the SRC to follow up.  In addition, we have established our own site on the Moodle System which enables us to communicate directly with the student body.  We will be able to gauge student ideas through polls and questionnaires, give information through news forum and blogs and we can advertise upcoming events.  These are just a few uses we have in mind to inform our peers of what we are doing in relation to important events and issues as they arise.  We meet each week to raise and discuss issues, plan activities, events and organise our fundraising.
